I was never able to attend their concerts at the time &#8211; how could a good suburban boy ever get to (or into) the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vancouverneon.com\/page_q\/q_buddha1.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Smilin&#8217; Buddha<\/a>? &#8211; but I bought as many records and cassettes as I could find. I&#8217;m not sure what attracted me to <a href=\"http:\/\/suddendeath.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">DOA<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/artbergmann.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Art Bergmann<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/subhumans.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Subhumans<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thepointedsticks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pointed Sticks<\/a>, et al., but it was probably a combination of the energy, bad language and social awareness that oozed out of these bands. And they wrote some damn good songs. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">The Knowledge Network recently showed a great documentary on Vancouver&#8217;s early punk scene called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowledge.ca\/program\/bloodied-but-unbowed\" target=\"_blank\">Bloodied But Unbowed<\/a>.
